Company Overview
The county government operates under the laws of Montana as a general purpose government entity with general government powers. The governing body is three Commissioners. Other elected officials include the Treasurer, Clerk and Recorder, Sheriff, County Attorney, Clerk of District Court, and Justice of the Peace.
Sheridan County is located in the far northeastern part of the state, bordering North Dakota and Saskatchewan. Home to approximately 3,600 residents, Sheridan County's economy is natural resource based with agricultural and petroleum products being the primary drivers. Outdoor recreation also provides seasonal boosts to the local economy.
Incorporated towns are Plentywood, Medicine Lake, Westby, and Outlook. Nonincorporated areas include Antelope, Redstone, Reserve, and Dagmar.
Company History
Sheridan County was established in 1913, having previously been part of Valley County. Plentywood has been the county seat since inception.
